I fall to the river
like stone sinking into the embrace
of shadow. Light surrounds
and eyes open to awe
mesmerizing me, mesmerizing the all
I feel enveloped by.
There are other stones here
a riverbed of souls awakening
slowly eroding to become the light
of the river, the light of the all.
Gold are the waters of consciousness
even with my eyes shut
it peeks thru steadily, reminder
that once awakened I never sleep
again, really. And a new stone falls
next to me, and I welcome him there,
rough edges accented from two homes
pulling his voice in both directions
hoarse from the fight to awaken others.
I rest him near me,
and the others I’ve come to unify.
We are all transforming, divine.
The river hatches from each stone
dissolves each of us in turn
as our voices become symphony
from many the one, from one the many.
The delta of my thoughts
Twist, bend, eddies as more
join the chorus. Some as small as a pinhead, a pebble.
Identity kept small for the convenience
of others, yet hardened
attested diamond strength shining back
the brilliance of the river
prismatic on its surface yet piercing
nothing of her skin.
She’ll wait near me for a long time.
It’ll take an age before the erosion
Takes hold. Before the river claims her
as part of the chorus of all.
I welcome the company.
